Apply to the IGERT Training Program

All IGERT trainees must be Ph.D. candidates at Brandeis University in one of the following programs:

  • Biochemistry
  • Biophysics & Structural Biology
  • Cell & Molecular Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Neuroscience
  • Physics

Students will apply to become members of the IGERT program in Quantitative Biology in the spring semester of their first year of graduate studies. Six to eight IGERT trainees and IGERT associates will be admitted each year (5 or 6 will be funded trainees, and the remainder talented associates).

IGERT trainees will be fully funded by the IGERT grant for two years, while IGERT associates will be students who participate fully in the program but are funded by other university resources; the IGERT associates program allows foreign students to be included in the program, thus enriching its cultural diversity.

Our programs have differing first year requirements, but all become flexible starting in the summer after the first year. We feel that starting the IGERT program that summer will have the greatest impact within the rather liberal framework of our current Ph.D. programs. Please refer to the Training Program page for more information.
