Students in each of the Ph.D. programs will select a
thesis advisor in accordance with the timetable and procedures
of their program. In addition to their primary advisor,
IGERT students will have two other faculty members. The committee will meet with the student
at regular intervals, to make sure that the student is
making satisfactory progress. Written notes with regard
to expectations and rate of progress will be kept as a
consequence of these meetings. This committee will become
the core of the final thesis examination committee, which
is always supplemented by an off-campus scholar.
At the end of their thesis work, students preapre a
written Ph.D. dissertation and present it to their community.
As part of their defense, all IGERT trainees will present
a Thesis Seminar to the Brandeis community.
