Mail

REGULAR MAIL

Mail is delivered to the Biology and Volen Offices by 10:00 AM each morning. The incoming mail will be distributed to the appropriate mailboxes. The Biology and Volen offices will also accept package deliveries intended for staff and graduate students. If the package is too big to fit inside a particular mailbox, we will leave a note in the mailbox indicating that you can retrieve the package in the office.

Inter-office and outgoing mail can be dropped off in bins at either the Biology or Volen offices. Please note that once the morning mail run has been completed, there will not be any more mail delivery or pickup until the next business day. The other option is to either drop the outgoing mail by Lab Supplies located in Kalman, which has a 2:00 PM pickup, or walk it up to the Post Office located in Usdan.

A mail service form is required for all non-postage (work/business-related), outgoing mail, and the chart string information must be listed on the form. In addition, the form must be signed ("authorized by" box) and dated ("date" box).

DHL / FEDERAL EXPRESS

DHL is the University's preferred vendor for express shipping services. Most labs have established their own DHL accounts. Please contact Ed Perkins (x6-4505 or email) if your lab is interested in setting up a DHL account.

Please make sure that the chartstring (fund, department ID, program, and project/grant number) is listed in the shipper's reference box of the airway bill.

If your lab does not have a DHL account, please contact the Biology Office for further assistance.

The University no longer maintains a university account with Federal Express. If there is a requirement that you ship via Federal Express your lab is responsible for paying for the shipping charges. Please contact the Biology Office for further assistance.

All DHL and Federal Express shipments should be dropped off at the Lab Supplies window located at the far end of the Kalman Building before 2:00 PM for pickup.
