There are two ways to use this website:

  • Browse the different species pages to see great pictures and to learn about interesting forms of plant life in Massachusetts.
  • Use the search methods to find a particular plant that you are interested in learning more about (or think you may have seen in a pond nearby!)
  • If you are interested in merely browsing, we recommend that you do so using either the Search by Location or Search by Form options because each provides a list of pictures to click on.

If you have a specific plant in mind, use the Search by Name option, which lists the common and scientific names of all the plants that this website describes.

Underlined words on the species pages are linked to the Glossary. Clicking on the word you wish to look up will take you to the Glossary; once there you can click on the letter of the alphabet at the top of the page that the word begins with in order to jump to your word.
