Stems:

  • Upright

  • Mostly unbranched
  • Red

Leaves:

  • Upper leaves oval to ovate, 3-6 cm long (1-2 inches); pinnately veined, rounded at tip
  • Lower leaves heart-shaped and clasping; dark dots and transparent glands on bottom

Flowers:

  • Grow in clusters at ends of stems and in leaf axils
  • Pink to green-purple
  • Sepals 0.3-0.5 cm long (0.1-0.2 inches)

Fruit:

  • Purple cylindrical capsule
  • 0.7-1.2 cm long (0.3-0.5 inches)
