Description

Mushroom: 2.5-6 cm (1-2 3/8") wide and 3-7.5 cm (1 -3") high. Round with elongated stalk-like base. Covered with log and short spines. Long spines break off leaving distinct marks. Opening by pore at top.

 

Spore print: Olive-brown.

Habitat and Range

Single, scattered or clustered. In open woods, along roads, on ground in urban areas. Throughout North America

Season

July-October.
