Gall maker: Lasioptera cylindrigallæ, a gall midge (Order Diptera, Family Cecidomyiidae).

Shape and Size: Stem gall. Somewhat inconspicuous "uniform stem enlargement." Length to 12 cm, diameter approx 0.6 cm.

Location: On stems of goldenrod (Solidago sp.) plants, summer.

Color: Color is the same as the overall stem structure.
