Gall maker: Parallelodiplosis florida (or similar), a gall midge. (Order, Diptera, Family Cecidomyiidae).

Shape and Size: Called "vein pocket galls." Elongate swellings or pockets approximately 0.5 cm in length.

Location: Along midrib or veins on the surface of Quercus leaves.

Color: Color is the same as the leaf surface.
