Some of these spiders (most notably the flower dwelling ones) are known for ambushing other insects, and have even been known to kill bees.

 

Origin of Latin Name:

The family name for this species was made up based on the Geek nouns combined with verb stems by the person who first discovered the Thomisus genus in 1805 named Walckenaer.
