  • 5-9 cm (2-4 in) long; 3-6 cm (1 - 2 in) wide
  • toothed edge; hairy leafstalk
  • ovate or elliptical in shape
  • dense gray hairs on leaf underside

Bark:

  • gray-brownish color
  • scaly, fissured

Flowers:

  • white, pink-tinged flowers
  • 5 rounded petals
  • Early spring

Fruit:

  • edible apple fruit, sunken at ends
