The head and body segments are connected and appear to be a single segment. The area containing the legs is long, with the last segment being very flexible. This specimen is 4 mm and dark red, with a wavy black band running down the abdomen.

Unlike spiders, Harvestmen are omnivorous. Instead of poison glands, the have stink glands for predator avoidance. Most are diurnal. This specimen has a few legs broken off. This adaptation, autotomy , allows them to escape predators by surrendering a leg.
