Do you have a plant, but not know what it is? The following guide will help you identify an unknown plant by asking a series of questions for you to answer. Click on the answer that best describes the plant that you wish to identify. Your responses will help the guide narrow down what your plant might be.

If you have questions about what a particular term means, check to see if it is followed by a linked asterisk (*). If it is, you can click on the asterisk for a definition of the term.

When using this guide please remember two things:

First of all, it is by no means complete. It is quite possible that you have an edible plant that is not listed, and the guide may tell you that you have a plant that in fact you do not. In order to avoid this, make sure to check all of the other characteristics listed on the listed plant's species page.

Second of all, you may have a plant that looks like it might be edible, but is not. If your plant is not listed, assume that it is not edible unless another, more reliable, field guide specifically tells you otherwise.

Again, please remember that you should not consume any part of a plant that you cannot identify with absolute certainty.

That being said, it's time to start your search!
