Resin-filled Blister on the Bark of the Balsam Fir

Back

Bark is smooth and gray, with blisters full of resin all over its surface. The resin contained in the blisters seen at the surface of the bark contains a rich supply of nutrients, but has an unpleasant taste, making it more of an emergency source of food.
