family: Pinaceae (pine family)

Pine is not a very popular tree for insects to produce galls on, but it is home to a few specific species of galls. The resinous fluids of the pine protect the galls very well. The most notable gall is the pitch midge. Other types of insects attack the pine needles, seeds, and twigs.
