Family Salticidae

The Jumping Spiders

This is a very large family of spiders and they are easily IDed. Their eye shape is unique to them with the large front eyes. They have the best vision of any of the spiders and rely on that to catch their prey. They don't make a snare in order to catch prey; they stalk them and then when they are a distance away they make one large jump. This is how they got their name. They then seize their prey with their powerful front legs.
