The Crab Spiders

Genus: Xysticus
Species: transversatus
You will have found this spider on bark and under leaves and rocks in the woods. They also like low plants. This spider is similar to Xysticus elegans.
Notice the brown body with black markings. The abdomen has very little black on it. Also notice the leg pattern, the legs are very clear near the body and striped elsewhere.
Notice the spaced out eyes and small chelicerae that are black at the tips.
LENGTH: Female: 6-7mm Male: 5-6mm
LOCATION: New England south to Georgia and west to Texas and the Rockies.  In Canada west to Alberta.
