Habitat: Dead Wood.

Color: Cap is yellow - brown, scales red-brown. Yellow-brown stalk

Size: Cap is 3-15 cm in diameter, 4, stalk is 10 cm long, 12 cm thick

Gills: Attached, broad, close.

Spore Print:Brown

Edibility: Edible, not recommended

Characteristics: This mushroom grows in clusters on dead wood. It is very slimy. Its range is north into Canada, south as far as Tennesee, west to Washington State in the North, New Mexico in the south. It has a wide cap, convex to slightly flat.
