Color: Cap is tan, . Yellow-brown stalk White to brown gills
Size: Cap is 2-10 cm in diameter, stalk is 5-15 cm long, 0.5-1.5 cm thick
Gills: Attached, close.
Characteristics: This mushroom, like the Golden Pholiota, grows in clusters on dead wood. It only grows on deciduous wood, however, and may gorn on living as well as dead trees. The cap is dry and scaly, and sometimes sticky. The mushroom lives September- October throughout North America.
