An Explanation of spore prints:

To make a spore print, take a fresh mushroom and remove the cap. But the cap down on a piece of white paper, and cover it with a cup or a bowl. Come back four hours later, and remove the cap. There should be faint lines where the spores have dropped from the mushrooms. Spore color is variant depending on species, and is an excellent method for telling apart species that look similar. It is not a recommended form of identification, though, because it is very hard to do in the field, and sometimes mushrooms don’t give up spores, so it may not work. Still, if two species look similar and you need to determine which species you have, this method works.
