Description
Group of up to 1000 species of decidous trees in North America. Hawthorns are highly variable and hybridize easily. May also be found as spiny shrubs. Leaves are simple and toothed and may be lobed. Flowers are white, usually with five to seven petals. Flowers present April through June and give way to red, dry, berry-like fruits.

Location
Widespread throughout North America.

Uses and Parts Used

Fruits
Tea made from fruits used for hypertension and various heart disorders.
