Northern White Cedar

Thuja occidentalis

The genus Thuja contains the North American Cedars including the Northern (Eastern) White Cedar and the Western Red Cedar. None of the species in this genus are true cedars (genus Cedrus), but were so named because of the properties of their wood to be fragrant and decay resistant. Click on the cedar to the left for more information.
