Eastern Larch

Larix laricina

The larches are in the genus Larix. Larches are the only trees in the Pinaceae family that lose their needles in the fall. Needles grow in tufts of a few to more than 30 needles. Tufts grow directly from branches and also from short twigs that come off the branch. Click on the larch to the left for more information about the Eastern variety.
