Applicants who have already developed interests in specific research areas should indicate these preferences. We recognize that students often discover other areas of interest as they are exposed to new fields.

Applicants must take the GRE aptitude examinations, and are encouraged to take one advanced subject exam. Students will be admitted on the basis of academic records, GRE scores, and letters of recommendation from at least three faculty members. Students who have attended universities at which English is not the primary language of instruction must submit TOEFL scores. A minimum TOEFL of 600 (paper-based test), 250 (computer-based test) or 100 (TOEFL iBT) is needed for admission.

The admission procedure will commence in the first week of January and continue until the class is full. Students are urged to submit applications early (before January 1) to get early consideration, but later applications will be accepted until the class is filled.
