Personal Interests: I enjoy both watching and playing a variety of different sports. I am a sucker for the sunshine, so when I have the chance to get outside I like spending time at the beach or in the mountains. I also love the idea of watching a movie or television show I haven’t seen before.

If I weren’t a scientist I’d be… a film critic

Research Interests: I am interested in understanding the genetic and molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration. A common theme among neurodegenerative diseases is the presence of pathological protein aggregates, but very little is known about the defective biological processes that lead to neuronal death. My project specifically focuses on how one of these aggregated proteins, TDP-43, might contribute to neurodegeneration by affecting neuronal morphology and thus nervous system connectivity.
