Welcome to the Rosbash Lab. The Rosbash laboratory has two main lines of investigation. We are interested in RNA processing as well as the genes and mechanisms that underlie circadian rhythms. The RNA work focuses on nuclear events, in particular co-transcriptional events such as splicing and RNP formation as well as transport of RNA form the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This work predominantly uses the model organism Sacchromyces cerevisae (yeast). Our second line of investigation examines the molecular underpinnings and neural networks relevant to circadian (circa 24 hour) rythmicity. Drosophila melanogaster (fruit fly) is the model organism for almost all of our circadian studies.
