I am just starting my PhD. After receiving a degree in Bioinformatics, I decided it would be great to get back in the lab and do some bench science. I was looking for a lab where my computational skills would come in handy. The best place for this is the Sengupta Lab where we use a variety of approaches to better understand the molecular mechanisms of behavior. By using an interdisciplinary approach to understand the behaviors and underlying mechanisms of thermotaxis, many large steps have been taken to characterize C. elegans response to temperature.  There is still more to be done. I hope to further our understanding of thermotaxis in C. elegans by using both molecular and computational approaches.
