Eve Marder & Leslie
Griffith
Several years ago, Dr.
Griffith was an expert biochemist and molecular biologist with no
personal electrophysiological experience. Dr. Griffith's projects
depend heavily on electrophysiology of flies with mutant CaM Kinase
II genes.
Dr. Marder taught Dr. Griffith
how to record electrophysiologically from larval Drosophila muscles
and the Levitan lab taught her to do patch recordings. These experiences
allowed Dr. Griffith to write a grant for this work that was funded
by the National Science Foundation. Two trainees worked on these projects.
Dr. Griffith and Dr. Marder
have also collaborated on a biochemical characterization of CaM Kinase
II in lobster tissue, and have a joint publication describing this
work.
