Observation of single molecules is key to understanding many different biological processes. In the Gelles laboratory, we use tools such as single molecule fluorescence to detect biological processes that could not be observed using many other techniques. These are outlined here in the research section of the site.

Publications by the Gelles lab can be found here.

The laboratory is also affiliated with the Brandeis graduate program in Biophysics and Structural Biology , the Benjamin & Mae Volen National Center for Complex Systems , and the W.M. Keck Institute for Cellular Visualization.
