Desktop themes
Desktop settings are really frivolous, but I'm mentioning it here in case:
- someone is interested what I did (unlikely), or
- my computer crashes, and I need to start from scratch (less unlikely).
In the XFce panel, there is an icon labelled "Settings".
- For "Taskbar", I placed it at the bottom and auto-hid it.
- Under "Window Manager":
- I'm using the "gaudy" window decoration, as the buttons were big and the icons made sense.
- I'm using "Sans 13" font.
- The buttons are ordered: menu, stick (make visible in all workspaces), shade (reduce to title bar), title, maximize, hide, close
- Under the "Keyboard and focus" tab, I have the focus follow the mouse, and focus does not raise the window.
- Under the "Advanced" tab, I have windows snap to the screen border.
- For "XFce Panel", I placed it at the top and auto-hid it.
- For "Desktop: Workspaces", I'm using two.
Other people take advantage of multiple workspaces more than I do,
but it's a handy way to distribute clutter.
The "stick" button lets you have a window span all workspaces, which is very convenient.
- For "User Interface", I have the Bluecurve interface and icons.
- For everything else, I kept either the default, or I don't care enough to remember.
