Background:

Eggs are a good plaything; their shape means that they roll irregularly. Every once in a while Dmitri will hard-boil an egg, and Gizmo will steal it while it's cooling. On this occasion, Dmitri was talking to his father in the kitchen while guarding his egg from the cat. Gizmo was indifferent to the presence of the egg, and so he and his father felt safe in retiring to his room. I heard a crash in the chicken, checked it out, and found Gizmo playing with the egg. I knocked on Dmitri's door, asking him if he had any eggs lying around. Dmitri, knowing exactly where I was going with this conversation, replied, "Son of a b*tch!"
